Benita Montemayor

Benita G. Montemayor, 59, beloved Mother, adored Bamaw and dearest friend was called to her eternal resting place on August 6, 2020. She entered this world on August 19, 1960 in Kingsville, Tx , born to Victor Benigno Gutierrez Sr. and Eudelia Davis Gutierrez. She is survived by her daughter Elvira Montemayor Shugart (Alex) from Sarita, Tx; son Benigno Raymond AKA Benny Ray Montemayor (Carrie) from Shanghai, China; her grandchildren Haley & Rene Shugart, and baby Montemayor; Partner and best friend Roberto Alaniz; Sisters: Palmira Elsie Garza (Kris), Eudelia Monga Jimenez (Carlos), Ofelia Lopez (Jorge), Emma Simms, Edna Pena (Audon) Brothers Joe Garza (Rosa), Elias Gutierrez, Seferino "Chefo" Gutierrez, and Victor B. Gutierrez JR., along with numerous nieces and nephews and in laws that she cared for deeply.

Benita Montemayor was a dedicated Mom, Grandma, Sister, Daughter and Aunt. She lived life with a smile on her face and a laugh you could identify in any room. She worked at La Paloma Ranch for over 20 years and built numerous friendships there. She dedicated herself to family and friends and was not only the back-bone of the family, but the last pillar holding it up. Benita was an example of strength, courage and resilience and these traits were instilled in her children at an early age. She touched so many lives and will be missed by many, but none more than her family who are completely heartbroken and lost without her. Benita loved all and kept us all in line. Benita was called home too soon, and her loss will leave a hole in many that will never be filled.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rene Montemayor; son, Victor Benny; her parents, Victor Benigno Gutierrez and Eudelia Davis Gutierrez; sister, Lina Gutierrez; and nieces Kayla Elvira Mungaray and Kristina Mungaray Timmons.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at 5pm – 9pm at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary with a Rosary to follow at 7pm August 18th and a Memorial Service August 19th at 10am at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Interment will be held at later date.
