Verlyn Mildred (Gotschall) Farrar age,98, passed away on November 2, 2022. She was born on December 18, 1923, to Glen and Astrid (Nelson) Gotschall at Chalco, NE. She moved with her parents at age 3 to Springfield, South Dakota, then at the age of 5 to a farm near Niobrara, NE, where Verlyn graduated from elementary school. She graduated from Monroe High School in Monroe, NE, in 1942. Verlyn was employed at Tooleys Drugstore at Columbus, NE. After graduation until her marriage to Francis W. Farrar on July 3, 1943, at Schuyler Methodist Church. They farmed for 36 years in Platte and Nance counties.  She was a member of a Neighborhood Social Club for many years. She was a homemaker and raised 3 children, Cheryl Ann, Larry Francis, and Janet Kay. When her husband Francis retired in 1979, the couple moved to Garden City, Kansas where they lived for 16 years. Verlyn was a member of the Methodist Church over 65 years. She enjoyed her family, embroidery, painting, reading, and gardening.

Preceded in her death are her parents, Glen and Astrid Nelson Gotschall; husband, Francis W. Farrar; in-laws, Fred and Amanda Farrar; sister, Vernel Gotschall Rupp; brothers, Gaylen, Virgil, Javonne, and Glen Jr, Gotschall; son in law, Mitchell G. Wragge; brothers in law, Leonard Rankin, and Jean Rupp; sisters in law, Anna Marie Farrar Rankin, Delores, and Dottie Gotschall; grandson, Gregory A. Farrar; and infant grandson, Richard D. Chmiel.

Among those left to cherish her memory is her son, Larry Farrar of Riviera, Tx; two daughters, Cheryl Ann (Richard) Chmiel of Omaha, NE, and Janet Kay (Farrar) Wragge of Plainview, NE; four grandsons, Kevin (Robin) Chmiel, Dr. Christopher (Melanie) Chmiel, Troy (Gail) Chmiel, and Larry Eric Farrar; two granddaughters, Kelsie A. (Tyler) Wragge Virgl of Colon, NE and Michelle Kay Wragge of Plainview, NE; brothers, Dennis (Jean) Gotschall of Dunbar, NE; sister in laws, Dorothy Gotschall, Bonnie Loyd, and Martha Gotschall; great grandchildren, T.J, Henry, Meredith, Alex, Sophia, Christian, Renee, and Maximus Chmiel; great granddaughters, Brystol K. Wragge, Harper Ann Virgl; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

There will be a private memorial service at Friends Cemetery in Monroe, NE, in the Spring.
