Susan Smith Kimball

Susan Smith Kimball passed away peacefully in her home on February 14, 2023. Susan was born October 23, 1934, to Allena Collins Smith and M A Smith, Jr. in Kingsville, Texas.  She graduated from H. M. King High School in 1951 and attended Tulane University and the University of Texas; and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kingsville since childhood.

Susan lived a full life and loved her family well. She was an excellent seamstress and bridge player. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, Colonial Dames, the Daughters’ of the American Revolution, The Kingsville Women’s Club, Tejas Dance Club, and the Garden Club.  She served in her children’s PTAs, as a den mother for the Boy Scouts, and Bluebirds.

She spent most of her life as a homemaker, but she also worked as a bank teller, bookkeeper, property manager and realtor. She loved animals and cared for numerous dogs, cats, and horses.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Carole Ann Kimball Hall; granddaughter, Kirstyn Kimball; and great-granddaughter, Contessa Shive.

Among those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 69 years, Milton Kimball; children, Kathy Kimball, Scott (Nittaya) Kimball, Kenny (Jorja) Kimball, and Janet Kimball Kelly; grandchildren, Natalie Privett Yu, Clayton Kimball, Tristan Kimball, Palmy Kimball, Kara Shive, Ethan Kimball, Katherine Kimball, Patrick Kelly, Daniel Kelly, Grace Kelly, Andrew Kelly, Joshua Kelly, Joseph Kelly, Matthew Kelly, Dylan Hall, Julia Hall, Sammy Hall, Luke Hall, Ronnie Hall and Geddy Hall; and eight great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Kingsville. A reception will follow.
