Romana Charles

Romana Vera Charles, 87, of Kingsville Tx, Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Friend was called to Heaven on September 25, 2021 in her loving home and surrounded by her sons and daughters as her journey to heaven began. During her long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s, she continued to instill precious life values to her loved ones.

Romana will be lovingly remembered by her children; Fanny (Manuel), Salomon, Saul (Sylvia), Elsa (Martin), Elisa (Brian). Romana will also be remembered by fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Romana was predeceased by her parents Santiago and Consuelo Vera, her husband of 32 years Salomon Charles Sr; her grandson Ruben Flores Jr. and her brother Salome Vera.

Romana was a servant to people with mental disabilities by providing training and instruction in daily life-work-skills. She always said, “They are Angels from God”. Thus, loving her job to the fullest.

Upon her retirement, her Love of Life remained true to her heart. She always danced like it was her last dance and sang to the rhythms of life to her heart’s content.

The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A funeral procession will depart the funeral chapel at 9:30 AM, on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, to St. Joseph Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM.  A Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Charles Cemetery, Palito Blanco, TX.
