We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary
Raul Puig, Jr., 90 years old and longtime resident of Riviera, TX, went to be with our Lord and Savior on June 22, 2022. Raul, endearingly known as “Chacho”, was born on August 15, 1931, in San Diego, TX, to Raul M. and Alicia R. Puig. After growing up in Hebbronville, TX, Raul joined the United States Air Force and is a veteran of the Korean War. To stay busy after retiring from a long career as a professional semi-truck driver, Raul extended his skill and drove school buses in Riviera. His delight in driving the buses was acknowledged when he was honored and crowned Homecoming King.
He enjoyed restoring small engines at home and loved having a cold beer at Loyola Beach. Raul loved his family, friends, and neighbors; his quick wit kept everyone laughing. Raul lived a full life. We will miss his sense of humor, and we will carry his love in our hearts forever.
Raul is preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 56 years, Estella Cordaway Puig; his beautiful daughter, Donna Loren Puig; parents Raul and Alicia R. Puig of Hebbronville, TX,; 1 grandchild and 1 great grandchild; sisters, Raquel A. Lopez (Eleuterio) of Zapata, TX, and Gloria L. Bazan (Juan) of Alice, TX; brothers, Juan Puig (Gloria) of Hebbronville, TX, and Dario A. Puig (Mary) of Corpus Christi, TX.
He is survived by his beautiful daughters, Debra Lynn Tillman of Tyler, TX, Gloria Canales of Palestine, TX, Yolanda Sprague of Corpus Christi, TX, and Bertie Giffin of Springfield, MO.; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
