Kathryn Lee Ora "Lodie" Moore

1926 - 2021

Kathryn Lee Ora “Lodie” Moore passed away peacefully on June 18, 2021, at the age of 95.  She was born on January 27, 1926, in Austwell, Texas, to Monroe Elias Parker and Viola Elizabeth Mitchell. Lee Ora moved to Kingsville in the late 1950s; she was a cook at various restaurants in Kingsville.  Lee Ora was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Kingsville, Texas, since the early 1960s, and a lifelong avid reader, especially her Bible.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Sylvester Edwards, Jr., and by her second husband Willie A. Moore.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter Viola Watson, of Kingsville, Texas; granddaughters Angela Smith, of Austin, Texas, and Michelle Smith, of Kingsville, Texas; a dear cousin Di’Anne Mitchell, of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and expressions of kindness.  A special thank you to Mr. Walter Hunter, who helped our mother/grandmother over the years.

We would like to share one of her favorite quotes that she shared with us again a few weeks ago: “Yesterday is a cancelled check; tomorrow is a promissory note; today is the only cash you have - so spend it wisely.”

In lieu of a memorial service, loved ones and friends can share memories of her at www.turcottepipermortuary.com

Met this beautiful soul in late 2006 by following my mother's advice to look for a good church home while attending college away from home. I knew absolutely no one and I prayed that the Lord will lead me and I follow without hesitation. The Lord led me to Friendship Baptist Chruch, I sat behind Mother Moore before church started and for the last 15 years she's been my rock, my prayer partner, my wisdom giver and my knowledge enhancer. I could have been in the world like many of the other college young adults away from home and now technically free from mom and/or dad, but I knew better, I wanted better, and needed better so I chose to be around my new best friend/ grandmother; Mother Moore. I love her so much. She helped me become a young woman of the Lord and she watched me grow spiritually and saw me through college, becoming a mother, and even giving my daughter and I nicknames:Gumdrop & Baby Gumdrop. I need to thank and say we love Michelle for always keeping us up-to-date with things and even praying with us. To hold Mother Moore's hand, to hear her voice, to see her smile I have done it all. She fulfilled her duty by leading, teaching, sharing, loving - by being exactly what the Lord has called us all to do, be a disciple of his Holy Word. I leave you with what she last spoke to me, "Never stop praying baby, never stop!"
