Herminia (Minnie) Garza Muguerza, 99 years of age, passed away peacefully Friday, January 22, 2021 at her home in San Antonio, Texas. She was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas by her parents with her 16 brothers and sisters.
She proudly served the US Army in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps as a General Clerk and was honorably discharged in 1945. She was a WWII veteran decorated with the WAAC Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. After her time in service, she settled in Kingsville, Texas and married Jose S. Muguerza Sr. to raise their family of four.
Minnie, a woman of faith, enjoyed homemaking, arts and crafts, yard work, travel adventures and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sister, Lydia G. Benavidez; her children Joe G. Muguerza, Velma Jane M. Crumpler, Lee Muguerza, Linda A. Muguerza; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, January 29 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
