Gonzalo Rosas

Gonzalo Rosas, 92, beloved Father and Husband, was called to his eternal resting place on August 21, 2020. He was born on July 24, 1928, in Driscoll, TX, born to Crespin and Teresa Rosas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 59 years, Alicia F. Rosas. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, infant Noe Rosas and Juan Rosas and two sisters Maria Ruiz and Refugia Salinas.

He is survived by his children, Diana Phillips, (Michael), Graciela Rosas, Gonzalo Rosas, Arnold Rosas, Alicia Rosas, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his brothers, Crespin, Lupe, Raul, Carlos, Alfredo and Enrique Rosas and his sisters Susana Rosas and Estella Medina.

Gonzalo served in the United States Marine Corps from 1947 to 1950. He was stationed in Guam and in California.

He married Alicia Figueroa on January 1, 1950, built his own house and raised their five children.

He was employed by the Texas Department of Highways for over 30 years and retired in 1983. When he retired, he enjoyed traveling throughout Texas and other States to visit family.

He loved music and loved to sing. His styled his singing after Pedro Infante and in his youth enjoyed singing in nightclubs in California. His singing voice was clear, powerful, and comparable to his Idol.

He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting until his early eighties. He enjoyed being outside, playing with the dogs or tinkering with cars, mowers and other equipment.

He loved and was loved by his children, grand and great-grandchildren, his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and many cousins. He will be greatly missed.

A Private Memorial Service will be held in his honor.
