Dr. Barbara Ruth Oates passed away on November 21 at Christus Spohn hospital after a short illness.
She is survived by her 2 children Mitzi Myers and Charles David Clark, 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Dr. Oates was a long-standing professor at the Texas A&M university in Kingsville, Tx. teaching as well as internationally in Germany. She taught in the Marketing and Business department. As well as being a well-liked adviser and counselor to the students and staff. She had published many articles on marketing practices and procedures.
She was also active in many local community services such as gardening, where she received a Master Gardening certificate, Rotary Club, along with many others and spent countless hours on school activities with students.
Barbara was an avid fan of the school football team, cheering the team on as often as she could. Barbara enjoyed helping people; always wanting to guide and teach them.
She also loved cats, dogs, and horses. Of which she has had numerous of over the years. She rejoiced in caring for them and reveled in their companionship and unconditional love. But above all things she was obsessed with collecting COKE-COLA memorabilia. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew her.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at First Presbyterian Church of Kingsville, with Rev. Daryl E. Johnson officiating.
