Dorothy Richter

Dorothy Lee Hoff Richter, 91, went to be with her Lord on Friday, August 5, 2022.  She was born on Sept. 12, 1930, in Rosebud, Texas, to Henry and Frieda (Sitz) Hoff. She was baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit by Pastor R. Kalkbrenner on Nov 2, 1930, at Salem Lutheran Church in Rosebud, Texas and confirmed in the Christian faith by Pastor Louis Kramer on Nov 30, 1944, at Salem Lutheran Church in Rosebud, Texas. Her confirmation verse was Psalms 37:5, “Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.”  She married Adolph Schiller on Nov. 19, 1949. Sadly, the marriage only lasted six weeks when Adolph passed away suddenly.

On March 2, 1951, Dorothy married Erwin Victor Richter, and they had 48 happy years until Erwin passed away; they had two children, Linda and Victor.  Dorothy married again on July 27, 2002, to James Richter. She had nine years of marriage to James.

During her life, she held several jobs including dental secretary, assistant secretary at Bishop Junior High School, and sewing purses, garment bags, and other items at Totes and Things. She spent a lot of her life being a “stay at home” wife and mom. For many years, she was an active member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She will always be remembered as the aunt with all the answers! She loved to bake and made wonderful cinnamon rolls. Other hobbies included sewing, crafting, and gardening. She was a kind and caring person and retained her humor to the end.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, one brother, Marvin Hoff, one sister, Leona Lake, and one stepson, Michael Richter.

Her family was dear to her, she is survived by her sister, Cora Mae Hollas, of Temple, Texas; children, Linda (Bill) Gunter of Bishop, Texas, and Victor (Becki) Richter of Big Spring, Texas; stepchildren, Kevin (Donna) Richter of White Settlement, Texas, Steve (Betsie) Richter of Arizona, and Andrea (Dave) Schluttenhofer of Graham, Washington; 3 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 8 step great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Chris Crocker, Ryan Ehler, Patrick Gunter, Larry Hoff, Leonard Hoff, Albert Pack, Justin Richter, and Gary Warren.
