Dorothy Mae Patton

December 23, 1924 ~ September 12, 2020 (age 95)

Obituary

Dorothy Patton passed away September 12, 2020 in Kingsville, Texas. She was born on December 23, 1924 to George Gideon and Lena Reiden Hall in Bishop, Texas.

Dorothy Patton loved to help others in many ways. While in the nursing home, she loved to play her keyboard as people gathered around asking for favored hymns and songs. She enjoyed sharing with and helping her roommates or others in any way possible. She had a real passion for reading, kept up with political situations and regularly exhibited her strong Christian faith and patriotism. Many of the family memories center around her love of fishing with her husband, especially when she caught the larger fish. She kept copious notes on scraps of paper bound with paper clips and rubber bands. She never missed an important date nor failed to send a birthday card or anniversary reminder. Always even tempered, the only time we ever saw her really lose her cool was the day after Christmas many years ago when someone tried boiling eggs in her new microwave oven. When they exploded and coated the entire interior with yolk and other bits and pieces, she lost it. Usually things like that tend to be funny several years later but when reminded of it she never laughed.

What a wonderful loving mom, mother-in-law and grandma. So full of fun and ready for adventure. We are really going to miss her presence at our family gatherings and functions. She was the glue that held us together. One thing we know for sure is that there is a big party taking place in heaven as she is greeted by all those who have gone on before.

Rest in Peace Dorothy, knowing you will be forever loved and always missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Elton Patton; granddaughter, Michelle Suzanne Quandt Bowen.
