Bettye Chambliss

Bettye Kelly Chambliss, 76, passed away on February 8, 2021 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on January 14, 1945 in Kingsville, Texas to Ida Mae Jones and William Edgar Schultz.

Bettye wore many hats throughout her working years which included working for Mercantile National Bank, Patti Welder Middle School in Victoria, as a floral designer for the Flower Box as well as BeDazzled and More.  Most recently Bettye was a beloved member of the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary staff family, where her loving presence and comforting nature was a blessing to all the families she served.  Bettye was well known by many for her delicious home cooked meals and always sharing her favorite recipes.  She was a lover of animals and did volunteer work and fostering of strays with animal rescue. She had many hobbies including, arts and crafts, oil painting, gardening, and sewing. She had a natural ability for creating and crafting and gave many a gift with a handmade touch and lots of love. She was a member of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church and served with the St. Gertrude Altar Society.  She created beautiful handcrafted rosaries that many families received throughout the years. Bettye was a caring, loving person who never met a stranger and her bright smile will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida Mae; first husband, Billy Wayne Kelly; late husband, Eddie Chambliss; and brother-in-law, Michael Hunter.

Bettye is survived by her daughters, Melissa (Stephen) Fuchs and Denise (Gilbert) Barrera; children, Judy Morales(Julio), Mary Huff (Len), Eddie Chambliss (Annette), & Caryl Chambliss; grandchildren, Brandon Wayne Barrera, Brianna Lynn Barrera, Audrey Makenna Fuchs, Emily Marie Fuchs; great-granddaughter, Kenzli Paige Bueno; sisters, Mary Jo Hunter and Billye (Don) Archer; brother, Chuck (Amy) Schultz; numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

A Walk-thru Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, February 12, 2021 at St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church with a Funeral Mass to begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery. Services will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church.

All COVID-19 requirements will be followed, masks are required at all times during services.

Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd. Kingsville, Texas 78363.
