Barry Anthes

Barry was born in Overton, Texas on November 9, 1953 to Norman H and Laura Margaret (Turner) Anthes. He has one brother Larry Sherrod Anthes. The family resided in the Humble Oil Company camp in Laird Hill Texas until 1956 and moved to Kilgore, Texas. In 1959 the family moved to Grand Isle, Louisiana and in 1960 moved to Kingsville, Texas where he resided until his passing on December 15, 2019.

Barry was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his brother Larry and wife Cheeri Moore Anthes, nephews Timothy Anthes (Richelle)of Eureka Springs ,Arkansas, Steven Hinkle (Lee Ann) of Elk City, Oklahoma, and Shannon Hinkle (Shaun) Abatti of El Reno, Oklahoma, his cousins, Roger Turner (Kathy), William Turner (Jennifer), Nancy Turner (Jim), and Bobby Turner (Badr), many nieces, nephews, and a host of close friends from all over the world.

Barry graduated from H.M.King High In 1971 and attended Texas A&I University.  He was an outstanding golfer and played on the high school team all through high school. He worked several day jobs after graduation but day jobs just didn’t fit his schedule so he bought the Country Luau with partners Danny and Cheryl Brown. Eventually Barry ended up as sole owner and the Luau hours fit his lifestyle perfectly. He played golf during the day and ran the bar at night. He turned out to be really good at bar owner and the Country Luau has been a very successful business since it was opened in 1984. He was a long time member of the Elks Lodge in Kingsville. The last year he had redeveloped a love for fishing and bought a property on Baffin Bay where he spent most of his spare time fishing and goofing off at the beach house. Barry was a great guy and treated everyone with utmost respect and the huge list of close friends is a testament to him. He is going to be missed greatly by his family, friends and his community.
