Andres Aquino (Andre)

Andres David Aquino (Andre), 90, of Kingsville, TX was surrounded by his family as he was welcomed into heaven on November 6, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Ingeborg, daughter, Imelda and her husband Robert (Kerr), daughter Yolanda Aquino, daughter Andrea and her husband, Tony (Vaziri), son Andre Aquino and his wife Gen, and son, Erik (Kepler) and his wife Tori and granddaughter Kayla and her husband, Bradley (Rister) and granddaughter Jessica (Kerr) and many other relatives in Canada, California and the Philippines.  He was preceded in death by his father Andres G. Aquino and mother, Severina Aquino, his brothers Perfecto David Aquino and Antonio Aquino and sister Sister Andrea Aquino.

Andre was a former Catholic  Seminarian studying to be a Catholic priest .  World War II ended his vocation and after high school, he pursued a medical career.  He graduated in Medicine in 1954 from the University of Santo Tomas, the oldest and most prestigious university in the Philippines. By his father’s urging he came to the US to further his career in 1956 and specialized in Pathology.  He moved to PEI Canada where he started his career and family.  Later he and family moved back to the US and settled in MS, OH and TX.  He was the Chief Coroner in PEI and Chief of Staff at the various hospitals during his career.

In March, 1976 he met the love of his life, Inge.  Their love and devotion to each other were unwavering.  They had the kind of love you see in movies and wished you had.  The kind of love that most people never get to experience for a moment, much less 45 years. During his last few years she was his caregiver and her life was centered around spoiling him, which only deepened his love for her.

At age 75, he turned off his microscope for the final time and retired.  He enjoyed traveling, visiting his relatives in the Philippines, watching documentaries and boxing, following the stock market, playing slot machines and scratch-off lottery tickets, fishing, and singing karaoke.  He was the president of the Filipino-American Assn in El Paso and Kingsville, TX for many years.

His sister Andrea summed up Andre’s character after staying with the family during a holiday: "He is a reflection of  godliness , excluding no one and embracing all.” He never wavered in his Catholic faith. His love for his parents, siblings, wife and children gave him the passion and purpose to succeed in his career. His empathy and compassion for people in need made him a medical doctor, not only by trade but by heart . His love for his own family sustained him through the years up to his last breath.

Let his special  memories sustain us during this difficult time.
