Amy Lawrence

Amy Kathleen Lawrence, age 67, passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 5, 2021 after a long struggle with diabetes and its effects. She was born to Kenneth and Doris (Corky) Lawrence on June 9, 1954 in San Diego, California. After graduating high school in Eustis, FL, Amy attended and graduated from Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, NC with a BA in English. Upon graduating university Amy moved to Kingsville, TX to be close to her Mamaw, where she met Michael Morgan and the two were married in 1986. Mike and Amy were blessed with a beautiful baby girl they named Virginia Lee and lovingly call Ginny. Amy went back to school and attended Texas A&M-Kingsville where she received her MA in English and was honored with an Endowed Graduate Scholarship in English from her mother and stepfather Corky and Talmer Peacock. She was also very involved in the theatre at Texas A&I University aka TAMUK. Amy was known as a loving, giving person and had the knack of making people laugh; a comedian at heart.

Amy is preceded in death by her father Kenneth Lawrence; stepfather Daniel Abel; brother Michael Lawrence; and uncle John Dodson.

She is survived by her husband Michael Morgan; daughter Ginny (Robert) Silguero; mother and stepfather Corky and Talmer Peacock; brother Jeffrey Lawrence; brother-in-law John Morgan; stepsister Sonja Perez and stepbrother John Peacock.

There will be a memorial service for Amy at First Presbyterian Church in Kingsville on Monday, Dec. 13th at 2pm with Rev. Daryl Johnson presiding.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks a donation be made to her scholarship or a charity of your choice in her memory.
