Alton Ludlam

Alton Charles “Chuck” Ludlam laid down his working tools and was called to join the Master on June 15, 2022, at the age of 85. Chuck was a man of deep faith, fierce loyalty, and a broad sense of humor. He will be remembered for his service to God, his family, his country, and his Lodge. Chuck was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy who served in both Korea and Vietnam. His service in the Navy saw him traveling the world with his family. In Rota, Spain, he learned to make Sangria from the locals and that became a mainstay at family weddings and other celebrations. Chuck was, above all else, deeply devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandkids, and he was at his happiest when surrounded by his family. After retiring from the Navy, he worked for Exxon for several years. He was also a devoted Master Mason and a Past Master at the Chamberlain Lodge in Kingsville. He was also a Shriner, and he served faithfully as a deacon, elder, and board member at First Christian Church of Kingsville for many years.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Ann Ludlam; and son, Michael Edwin Ludlam.

He is survived by four children, Paula Elaine (John) Brown of Fremington, England, Johanna Elizabeth Ludlam of Kingsville, Charles David (Lee) Ludlam of Kingsville, and Shawn Thomas (Deedee) Ludlam of Jacksonville, Florida; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and Masonic brothers.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 12:00 PM, on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at First Christian Church, Kingsville, TX. A rite of committal with full military honors will take place on Monday, July 11, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, TX.
