Alistair Andaya

Alistair Keith D. Andaya, 33, passed away on July 10, 2020 in Corpus Christi, Texas after a brief illness.  He was born on November 1, 1986 in Los Angeles, California to Alfredo and Hilarie (Dominguez) Andaya.  He was engaged to his best friend, Jenni Garcia, who preceded him in death on July 7, 2020.

Alistair’s vibrant and comical personality brought out the best in everyone.  He had a selfless outlook on life, and was a positive force of nature to all.  Alistair had so much goodness and so much capacity to bring joy to family and friends.

He was the younger of two children, a compassionate son who was a momma’s boy from the start, but always his father’s right hand.

Alistair was an understanding and amusing brother, who when not trying to embarrass his big sister, would make her laugh with inappropriate jokes and anecdotes that started with “Do you know what YOUR mother just said?!”

He was an encouraging uncle who rough-housed with his nephews, Benjamin and Barrett (aka Bear) and let them win, and had eating contests with his niece, Jane.

Alistair was a generous and supportive friend who impacted so many lives.  Pictures of clearly unsupervised parties at his family’s home from his youth and various photos throughout his life have resurfaced as evidence of just how many were impacted.

He was a loving partner to Jenni.  They were a fun couple who indulged each other’s hankerings for Casa de Tacos and Netflix.  Moreover, they were a caring couple, devoted to their families and eager to start one of their own.

Alistair loved the Baltimore Ravens (much to his sister’s chagrin), Captain America, his alma mater Texas A&M Kingsville, anything sports, grilling with his buddies, reminiscing as well as hoping for the future, and being a role model to his friends’ children.  Some of Alistair’s most impactful subroutines centered around finding the next best comedy series to watch, playing sports, doing meal preps with his Jenni, weekend video-chats with his sister, niece and nephews, and spending time with his parents.  He was a wonderful man who left a permanently etched mark in all hearts that knew him.

Alistair is missed by his parents, Alfredo and Hilarie Andaya; sister, Anne Claire Andaya-Nauts, niece, Ashlynn Ava Jane Nauts; nephews Alfred Benjamin A. Nauts and Barrett Evan Carr A. Nauts; future in-laws John and Maria Antonia Garcia and family; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his fiancée, Jennifer Garcia; maternal grandparents Honorio Dominguez and Marcelina Dominguez; paternal grandparents Alfredo Andaya, Sr. and Rosario Andaya; and Marla, the family’s weenie dog.
