Yolanda De La Paz, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on June 14, 2023. She was born on January 26, 1944, and left this world leaving behind memories cherished by all who knew her. She was a devout woman of faith; her unwavering strength in her beliefs carried her through the ups and downs of life. Yolanda found comfort in her religion and was a source of support for many others who turned to her for guidance. She had a deep love of family; there was nothing more important to her than spending time with those she loved. Whether it was hosting large gatherings in her home or simply enjoying a quiet evening with her loved ones, Yolanda cherished every moment spent with them. She had many interests that brought joy to her life; from gardening to dancing, singing to gambling, traveling to cooking and baking, there was never a dull moment in Yolanda's company. She shared her love of loteria with others and enjoyed playing the game with family and friends. Yolanda lived every day with passion and purpose. Her infectious spirit touched the hearts of everyone she met. The world is a brighter place because Yolanda De La Paz graced it with her presence. May she rest in peace knowing that she will be forever remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, friend, and woman of unwavering faith who lived life to the fullest.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernesto De La Paz, Sr.; father, Florentino Benavidez; mother, Delia (Alfredo, Sr.†) Torres; siblings, Teresa Zapata and Alfredo Torres, Jr.; and son-in-law, Rolando L. Bazan.

Among those left to cherish her memory are her children, Nilda Bazan, Ernesto (Patricia) De La Paz, Jr., Roel (Elia) De La Paz, Rogelio (Rachel) De La Paz, and Nora De La Paz; siblings, Connie (Arnulfo) DeLeon, Gloria (Leonel) De La Paz, Olga (Rene) Alaniz, Mary (Alfredo) Longoria, and Angel (Maria) Torres; 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family will receive condolences on Monday, June 19, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. A Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery.
