Wilodyne Joy (Hardman) Clapper

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wilodyne Joy (Hardman) Clapper on August 29, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on July 5, 1934, in Denver, Colorado, Wilodyne was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished friend to many.

Wilodyne married her high school sweetheart, David Roy Clapper, a career Master Chief Petty Officer. Throughout her life, she exemplified strength and resilience, particularly during her husband’s numerous deployments. As the heart of the Clapper family, she dedicated herself to creating a loving and stable home for her three sons: David, Bruce, and Bryan. Her unwavering support and guidance were the foundation upon which her family thrived.

A woman of deep faith, Wilodyne was an active member of the Prince of Peace Church of the Bretheren attending services regularly and always eager to lend a hand wherever it was needed. Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds; she was often called upon to craft beautiful "Barbie cakes" for the birthday girls in her neighborhood, a testament to her creativity and love for bringing joy to others.

Wilodyne had a passion for the arts, finding joy in quilting, doll making, and ceramics. Her home was filled with the fruits of her creative endeavors, each piece a reflection of her warmth and artistic spirit.

Above all, Wilodyne will be remembered for her selflessness and her unwavering commitment to others. Whether it was a family member, friend, or neighbor, she was always ready to drop everything to lend a helping hand. Her legacy of kindness and service will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Wilodyne was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Ray Hardman, her brother Arthur, her beloved husband David Roy Clapper, and her granddaughter Christina and grandson David. She leaves behind her three sons, David Ray Clapper and his wife Emma, Bruce Clapper, Bryan Clapper and his wife Cornelia; her grandchildren Jenny, Catherine, Sean, Paige; and her great-grandchildren Ethan, Zac, Niko, Gavin, Riley and Quinn.

A private graveside service will be held at Olinger Cemetery at Crown Hill in Wheat Ridge, Colorado where Wilodyne will be laid to rest next to her Husband and Parents. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in her memory.
