William Henry Bynum was born in Hobbs, New Mexico, on December 18, 1939. He grew up in Healton, Oklahoma and worked on the farm during the summers for his Uncle Raymond Blodgett. William served his country for six years, in the US Navy. He owned and operated Jay Jay Well Service until 1998 when he retired; he continued to have a special place in his heart for all his employees. William was an avid hunter and fisherman; on his last trip to Africa in 2007, he completed the African big 5 of dangerous game. He was a member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus and a member of the Equestrian order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. William was a devout Catholic and member of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church; he loved his church and had a real devotion to the Blessed Mother.
Preceded in death by his sons, Anthony Bynum and Rocky Bynum; parents, Charles and Lillie Bynum; siblings, Mildred Monus, Loretta Bynum, Isaac Bynum, and Charlene Bynum.
Among those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Joyce Bynum; children, Bradford Bynum (Gina) of Oklahoma City, OK and James Jacob Bynum (Lisa) of Kingsville, TX; siblings, Zelda Morris of Orange Grove, TX, and John Bynum of Flowery Branch Georgia; grandchildren, Jacob Daniel Bynum(Danesha), and Jordan David Bynum of Oklahoma City.
The family will receive condolences on Friday, October 29, 2021, at St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
Honoring him as pallbearers are James Pursel, Darrin Radford, Keith Taylor, Lisa Bynum, Bill Colston, and Andrew Treadway.
Donations for the St. Gertrude Building Fund will be accepted in memory of Mr. William H. Bynum.
