Wendell Nix

Wendell Allen Nix, age 80, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 in Kingsville. He was born October 29, 1932 in Ricardo, Texas to Bert C. Nix and Melissa Bailey Nix. Mr. Nix was employed by Penrod Drilling Company as a tool pusher until his retirement. He was a member of Ricardo Baptist Church. Mr. Nix was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, James Cleo Nix, Calvin Nix, Archie Nix Sr. and Ray Nix.
Mr. Nix is survived by his wife, JoAnn Nix of Kingsville three daughters, Katy Myers of Cypress, Texas, Georgia Bishop Dave of Port Richie, Florida and Melissa Dorr Russ of Tomball, Texas three sons, Richard Myers of Kingsville, Allen Nix Kathy of Broussard, Louisiana and Hardy Nix Amy of Carrollton, Texas one sister, Lenora Scott Kevin of Robstown, Texas 17 grandchildren 11 greatgrandchildren and one greatgreatgrandson.
Visitation will take place from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary with the family receiving friends during those hours. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Buddy Joyner officiating. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Military Funeral Detail.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Services are entrusted to TurcottePiper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
