Warren Sidney Allen and Mary Jane Sweeten Allen shared a remarkable love story and partnership that spanned 65 years of marriage, leaving a lasting legacy of faith, family, hard work, and service to their community.
Warren was born June 22, 1937, in Edinburg, Texas, to Houston Goodrich Allen and Lois Dorothy Sandifer Allen. Mary was born February 24, 1942, in Edinburg, Texas, to Dee B. and Ethel Inez Hughes Sweeten. They were married on July 16, 1959, and together built a life centered on family, friendship, and devotion to others.
After Warren’s early career with Shell Oil Company, the couple settled in Kingsville, Texas, where they purchased and operated Interstate Rent-All for more than three decades. Working side by side, they built not only a successful business but also lifelong relationships throughout the community. Mary later became a cosmetologist and opened Total Image, where she was known for her warmth, kindness, and welcoming spirit.
Warren and Mary shared a love of camping, traveling, square dancing, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. Their favorite family traditions included summers spent camping along the Frio River, where they created countless memories with siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Warren especially enjoyed the outdoors and treasured simple moments of conversation and fellowship, while Mary cherished her friendships, loved helping others, and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Mexico, and England. Above all, their greatest joy was time spent with family.
Together, Warren and Mary will be remembered for their unwavering faith, dedication to family, strong work ethic, generous hearts, and the kindness they extended to everyone they met.
They were preceded in death by their beloved son, Gary Dean Allen.
They are survived by their daughter, Brenda Allen Price (Marshall); son, Tommy Allen (Dawn); grandchildren Timothy (Julia), Adam, and Matthew Nix, Taryn, Ashley, Houston, McKinna, and Gary Allen Jr.; great-grandchildren Archie, Jackson, Lukas, Logan, Kendyl, and Emily; Warren’s brother, Wayne Allen; Mary’s sisters, Deeann Bodi, Fay Aaberg, and Betty Sweeten; brother, Donald Sweeten; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
