Virginia Mae Frenzel

Kingsville resident Virginia Mae Frenzel, 85, passed away on February 18, 2022, in Houston, Texas.  Virginia was born in Hidalgo County Texas September 11, 1936, to parents, Rube and Ruth Gwynn. Virginia and her family moved from Hidalgo County to Rockport, Texas, where she spent most of her childhood to young adult life.  She attended and graduated from Texas A&I University in Kingsville with a master’s degree in elementary education in 1971.  She taught elementary students in Rockport, Petronila, and Bishop for 33 years, before retiring to enjoy her senior years.  Once retired, she stayed active enjoying her children and grandchildren.  She also volunteered at Christus Spohn hospital as well as being a member of the Kingsville Historical Society.

Virginia’s children and the teaching of other children brought her great pride and enjoyment in life.  However, it was her teaching that she is best known for. There were many times, after her retirement, that former students would see her and tell her how much she impacted their lives.  She will be immensely missed by all that knew her, especially her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband Howard A. Frenzel, parents Rube and Ruth Gwynn, brother Rudolph Gwynn and a baby sister Abigale Gwynn.

Among those left to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon Johnson (husband Robert), Roger Bunch, Larry Gwynn Bunch (wife Pamela), and Blake Bunch (wife Donna); brother, Jack Gwynn (wife Sherry); eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; Virginia loved her family.

The family will receive condolences at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 25, 2022, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a chapel service to begin at 11:00 AM.  Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
