In Loving Memory of Scott Spillman
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Scott Spillman, who passed away on October 22, 2026, at the age of 70.
Scott was born in Colorado and grew up in Skidmore, Missouri, surrounded by a large, blended family. He leaves behind his children, Rodney, Lauren, Jenny, April, Corina, and Susan; his beloved wife, Sherry; and the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren he loved more than anything in this world. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law and father-in-law, siblings, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Babe and JoAnn Stinnett along with several siblings.
Scott was a devoted husband, father, and friend who cared deeply about his family. His love for travel seemed to begin at an early age, and if you knew him for long, chances are you had heard one of his legendary hitchhiking stories. He was an avid biker and hunter, happiest when riding his Harley. He was also an incredible cook on the grill, and honestly, there wasn’t much he couldn’t do.
Throughout much of his adult life, Scott worked as an engineer at North Kansas City Hospital, where he earned numerous accolades. He also owned and operated his own heating and cooling repair business. Along the way, he built lasting friendships, making connections with people who became more like family. Once retired, Scott traveled in his camper and spent the last 5 years as a winter Texan where he enjoyed the friends he made at Seawind.
If you knew Scott, you loved him. He always had a smile, a joke, a story, or a remedy for just about anything. He could fix nearly anything, and he never met a stranger. He was a father figure to children who needed one, everyone’s biggest cheerleader, and someone who wasn’t afraid to give you a swift kick in the rear when you needed it. That was Scott—kindhearted, generous, full of life, and always ready to help.
The world became a little less bright the day Scott passed away. His absence will be deeply felt by the many lives he touched. Although our hearts are broken, we know he would never want the people he loved to remain in sadness. Instead, let us celebrate the life he lived, share the stories that made us laugh, remember the lessons he taught us, and hold close the countless memories he left behind.
Scott’s love will live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends. He may be gone from our sight, but he will never be gone from our hearts.
Keep the road open, the Harley running, and the stories coming. You will be loved and missed more than words can ever express.
