Obituary

Sandra San Miguel Gomez passed away on August 15, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on November 17, 1964, Sandra lived a life defined by love for her family, devotion to others, and a spirit that brought warmth and joy wherever she went.

A graduate of H. M. King High School’s Class of 1982, Sandra built a career as an admitting clerk and financial counselor with the Christus Spohn Health System and Driscoll Children’s Hospital. She loved her work and the people she worked alongside, and that care for others was evident in all she did. She was known as a hard worker whose kindness, friendliness, and generous nature left a lasting impression on those around her.

Sandra will be remembered as beautiful, funny, sociable, resilient, selfless, thoughtful, and deeply loving. She was the kind of person who never turned anyone away. With her contagious smile, unforgettable laugh, and larger-than-life personality, she was truly the life of the party. Her strength and willpower remained evident even during her final days, reflecting the courage with which she faced life.

Her proudest accomplishment was her family. Sandra cherished her four children and her grandchildren, and she found her greatest happiness in raising them and being part of their lives. Time spent with her grandkids brought her immense joy, and the memories she created with her family will be treasured always.

She had a gift for making every gathering special. Sandra loved hosting holidays, especially Halloween, her favorite holiday, and she became known for her amazing Halloween parties and elaborate birthday celebrations. She loved cooking, bringing family and friends together for holidays, birthdays, and backyard barbecues. She also enjoyed fishing, gambling, dancing like no one was watching, and spending meaningful time with those she loved. Her daughters held especially dear the girls’ days they shared with her, moments filled with laughter, closeness, and love.

Sandra’s family and friends will remember how deeply she cared, how freely she loved, and how naturally she made people feel welcome. Her goodness, warmth, and joyful presence touched many lives, and her memory will continue to live on in the gatherings she loved so much, in the stories shared around family tables, and in the hearts of all who knew her.

Sandra is survived by her children, Nicholas San Miguel, Luis Gomez, Jr., Daliliah San Miguel, and Valerie Sanchez. She is also survived by her mother, Oralia San Miguel; her sisters, Brenda San Miguel Flores, Delma San Miguel Ratchford, and Velma San Miguel Guerra; and her brother, Robert San Miguel; her seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; including her grand fur-baby, Bandito.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roberto San Miguel; her sister, Thelma San Miguel; and her daughter, Vanessa Merrill.
