Obituary

Russell Wayne Escamilla, 49, passed away on August 20, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on March 24, 1977.

Russell was a hardworking truck driver and diesel mechanic who loved being on the road and working with his hands. He was exceptionally smart, especially with mathematics, spoke Spanish very well, and was always good at following directions and getting the job done.

Russell lived life on the edge and never turned down an adventure. He loved fishing, backyard barbecues, gambling, working, and going on what his family called his “side quests.” He was the life of the party, the family jokester, and loved giving everyone funny nicknames. His genuine smile, big heart, and accepting nature made him someone who never judged others.

He was one of the most giving and dependable people you could know. Russell would give anyone the shirt off his back and was always there when someone needed him. He was honest, hardworking, and gave some of the best advice. He was never afraid to show his emotions and loved with his whole heart.

Above all, Russell was a devoted family man and a proud mama's boy. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he was incredibly proud of his siblings, nieces, nephews, and entire family.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Margarita Escamilla (AMA); brother-in-law, Ramon Rodriguez; and cousin, Justin Sawyer.

Russell leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, Cynthia Escamilla and Baldemar Escamilla Sr.; his children, Ray (Bri) Rivera, Mariah Escamilla, Russell Escamilla Jr., Madelina Escamilla, Timothy Escamilla, and Olivia Escamilla; and his grandchildren, Karisma, Levi, Ray Jr., Carlee, Emberlina, Emiliano, Adrian, Everly, Tye, and Leevi. He is also survived by his siblings, Brenda (Nick) Lozano, Aileen, Denise (Simon) Perez, and Baldeboy (Noelia) Escamilla, Jr., along with numerous extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

The family will receive condolences from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. A rite of committal and interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.

Russell will be remembered for his big heart, contagious humor, hardworking spirit, and unconditional love for his family. His laughter, stories, and unforgettable personality will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
