Ronald “Ronny” Gerwick
Born October 27, 1948, Ron (Ronny) Gerwick peacefully flew off with the angels to be with God on June 3, 2026. Ronny lived south of Hebbronville when he began school and moved to Kingsville in 1961, where he attended Memorial Junior High School. He lettered in track at H.M. King High School and later at Texas A&I University. While attending college, he worked for oilfield service companies and earned degree in Geography and Geology, graduating in the spring of 1971.
Throughout his career, Ronny founded seven oil and gas service corporations, the most well-known being Flo-Back, Inc. He also served as a workover, completion, and drilling consultant for more than 29 years.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Jaycees for many years before moving from Kingsville in 1975. He later returned with his family in 1982 to expand the business he had started in Laredo, Texas. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church and a Charter Member of the Kleberg County Trap & Skeet Range.
Ronny spent more than 50 years collecting arrowheads and amassed a collection of over 200. He generously shared many of them with Boy Scouts and his sons’ classmates during educational presentations. He served as President of the Kingsville Youth Soccer Organization for many years and coached numerous youth soccer and Little League teams.
He was passionate about supporting others and regularly donated to veterans’ organizations, active-duty military, Woman’s Club of Kingsville fundraisers & cancer-related causes, County and youth programs including the Boy Scouts, 4-H, soccer, and Little League.
Ronny loved deer and bird hunting with his sons and friends. He spent many years enjoying life on the water, whether fishing in Baffin Bay and the Gulf of Mexico or water skiing on Lake Corpus Christi near Mathis.
One of his greatest joys in his later years was watching his grandsons play sports.
Ronny will be remembered for his love of family, generous spirit, strong work ethic, devotion to his community, and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey.
Ronny was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Edward Gerwick of Kingsville and Titusville, PA; his mother, Evanette (Childress) Gerwick of Refugio; and his brother, Dennis Gerwick of Kingsville.
He leaves behind his loving family; his wife of 55 years, Carol McDaniel Gerwick; his son, Marty Gerwick and wife Allison of Lago Vista, Texas; and his son, Ross Gerwick of Kingsville. He was an exceptionally proud grandfather to Mason Gerwick of Fredericksburg, whom he helped raise for ten years, and to Chase Gerwick and Skyler Gerwick of Lago Vista, each of whom he loved dearly.
He is also survived by his sisters, Donna Van Cleve (Jimmy) of Refugio and Susan Leubert (Doug) of Utopia; his brothers, Jerry Gerwick of Kingsville and Mike Gerwick (LaVerne) of Utopia; as well as six nieces and three nephews, all of whom he loved deeply and was very proud of.
