Roel Saldana Villarreal (Cacoon), born in Kingsville, Tx on March 26, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, at 67 years old surrounded by the love of his family.

To know him was to know a man whose heart belonged not only to his family, but to his entire community. He dedicated his life to serving others with kindness, generosity, and an unwavering willingness to help anyone in need. Whether through his work, his music, or his countless acts of selflessness, he made a lasting impact on anyone fortunate enough to cross his path. 

For more than 25 years, he brought joy to countless celebrations as a beloved DJ, creating memories that will live on for generations. From weddings and quinceañeras to birthdays, adult day cares, KISD school proms, Valentine's dances, and special abilities children's proms, car shows, and community benefits and events, he gave his time and talent to ensure every event was filled with laughter, music, and unforgettable moments. His greatest reward was seeing smiles on the faces of those he entertained. He enjoyed karaoke and loved to sing, as well as play guitar and the accordion. Roel also loved fishing and watching the stars every chance he had. His passion for classic and show cars was visible by the countless trophies and awards he accumulated over the years.

His commitment to service extended far beyond music. He began his career at a young age at the King Ranch where he followed family traditions. He proudly served the City of Kingsville for 26 years in the Sanitation Department before retiring, earning the respect and admiration of his coworkers and the community he faithfully served. He also dedicated his time as the maintenance man for the KC Club in Kingsville, Texas, where his dependable nature and tireless work ethic never went unnoticed. He was known for giving without expecting anything inreturn. Whether it meant offering his time, mowing yards, caring for several families at our cemeteries, or simply doing whatever it took to make sure others were happy, he lived a life defined by compassion and generosity. His selfless spirit touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will never be forgotten. Above all else, his greatest pride and joy was his family. He was an extraordinary father to his only daughter, whom he loved unconditionally. He devoted himself to raising her, guiding her, encouraging her, and standing beside her through every stage of life. His love was steadfast, sacrificial, and beyond measure.

He was also a proud and devoted grandfather to his only grandson and an adoring great-grandfather to his precious great-grandchildren. They never questioned his love because he made certain they had everything they needed—and often everything they wanted. His greatest happiness came from seeing his family smile and knowing they were cared for.

Roel is proceeded in death by his mother Elenita Saldana Villarreal, his father Humberto Mejia-Villarreal, his brothers, Juan Manuel Villarreal (Nele), Ruben Villarreal (Ongie) and Humberto Villarreal (Pearl).

Roel is lovingly survived by his devoted daughter, Ruby Villarreal; his grandson, Marco A. Jimenez Jr., and his wife, Lyzette Valadez; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Marc Angel, Marco the 3rd, Michael, Leriah, Matthew, Moisés, Messiah, and Lillianna. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Linda Shader and husband Marco Lombrera, his dear sister-in-law, Elsa Villarreal; and his many loving nieces and nephews, whom he adored deeply. Along with many extended family members and dear friends, they will forever cherish his memory and the love he shared throughout his life.

To honor Roel's life, there will be a visitation held at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, on September 5, 2026, starting at 3:00 PM with a chapel service to follow at 6:00 PM. Please join the family as we celebrate the remarkable life of Roel (Cacoon).

His passing leaves an immeasurable void that can never be filled. He will be deeply missed by his family, cherished by his many friends, and forever remembered throughout the Kingsville community. His legacy of service, generosity, love, and unwavering devotion to others will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us, the music he shared, the lives he touched, and the love he gave so freely will echo in our hearts forever.
