Obituary

Rodemiro Jesus Ruiz, a man whose life was defined by steadfast dedication, profound kindness, and unwavering faith, passed away on May 4, 2026. Born on September 16, 1955, in the quiet town of Hebbronville, Texas, Rodemiro lived a life rich in purpose and love, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

A proud veteran, Rodemiro answered the call of duty with honor, serving in the United States Army during the turbulent Vietnam era. This chapter of his life forged in him a profound sense of discipline and commitment, virtues that would pervade every subsequent endeavor. After his military service, Rodemiro carved out a remarkable career as a truck driver, a vocation he passionately pursued from 1977 until the very end of his days. For 11 of those years, he navigated the vast highways as an interstate truck driver, demonstrating commendable resilience and commitment to his craft. Yet, beyond his professional accomplishments, it was his role within his family and community that truly defined him.

Rodemiro’s heart was always at home, especially in moments filled with family togetherness. Fondly remembered for his famous oven-baked fajitas—dishes said to surpass even the finest barbecue pits—he relished the joy of gathering loved ones around the table. His welcoming nature and kind spirit made him a pillar of warmth and comfort, consistently putting others at ease with his wise counsel and genuine care.

A man of considerable wisdom, Rodemiro was especially cherished by his grandchildren, to whom he dispensed thoughtful advice on matters of finance, health, and travel. His honest and forgiving character, coupled with a deep and abiding faith, marked his every interaction. A faithful servant, he proudly fulfilled the role of usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kingsville, TX, embodying the virtues of service and humility.

His pride in his family was profound, with his great-grandson being a particular source of joy and accomplishment. Outside the family sphere, Rodemiro also nurtured interests that illuminated his personality—he was an avid fan of western and history programs, and his passion for football was embodied by his support for the Dallas Cowboys.

Rodemiro Jesus Ruiz’s departure leaves a void that is deeply felt, yet his spirit remains alive in the countless memories and lessons he leaves behind—a testament to a life lived with grace, generosity, and an unshakable devotion to family, faith, and country. May he rest in eternal peace.

Rodemiro is preceded in death by his son, Rodemiro Javier Ruiz; and parents, Jose Jesus and Odilia (Perez) Ruiz.

Among those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 50 years, Gracia Soliz Ruiz; sons, Omar Gonzalez Ruiz (Margie) and Stevan O. Ruiz (Gloria); siblings, Hilda Garza (Bobby), Rene Ruiz, Roel Ruiz, Ernesto Ruiz, and Ricardo Ruiz; grandchildren, Kristen Renee Gonzalez (Alan Navejar), Kaitlyn Nickol Gonzalez, Estevan Reno Ruiz (Alex), and Jacob Jet Ruiz; great-grandchildren, Ava Marisela Navejar, and Aidyn Daniel Navejar; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
