Robert Howard
Ainsworth
Sep 5, 1942 — Oct 28, 2026
Robert Howard Ainsworth, 84, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2026, surrounded by his beloved wife and daughter. He was born on September 5, 1942, in West Monroe, Louisiana, to Rudolph and Lilian Ainsworth.
Robert was a hardworking man who believed in traditional values, dedication, and the importance of family. Throughout his life, he took great pride in his work and the people he served. He spent 37 years working as a purchasing agent for Heldenfels Construction, where his years of commitment and hard work reflected the kind of man he was. He also had the honor of serving as Mayor of Driscoll, Texas, demonstrating his dedication to his community.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a retired disabled veteran. His service to our nation was an important part of his life, and he carried that pride with him throughout the years.
Outside of work and service, Robert knew how to enjoy life. He was a true country music fan, especially when it came to the legendary George Jones, whom he affectionately referred to as “Possum Jones.” He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially treasured the times he spent taking the boys hunting and bringing the family together for trips to the beach. Whether spending time outdoors or simply gathering with loved ones, those moments meant the world to him.
Robert also had a special place in his heart for family traditions, including a good game of poker with the family. Known for his twisted sense of humor, he always had a way of making people laugh, sometimes when they least expected it. His personality, humor, old-fashioned values, and love for his family made him one of a kind. He will be remembered not only for the life he lived but for the countless memories and stories he leaves behind.
Above all, Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He shared 59 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Leonarda G. Ainsworth, building a lifetime of memories, love, and family together.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Kevin Ainsworth, and his parents, Rudolph and Lilian Ainswort.
He is survived by his loving wife, Leonarda G. Ainsworth; his children and their spouses, Tina Ainsworth and Patricia Gonzales, Robert H. “Bobby” Ainsworth and Eloisa Ainsworth, and Ronnie Ainsworth and Jeanne Ainsworth. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kimberly Ainsworth, Christopher Ainsworth, Aaron Saenz, Ronnie Todd Ainsworth, Crystal Ainsworth, Bobby Ainsworth, Audreana Godlewski, Lauren Robertson, and Jourdyn Nickel; and his great-grandchildren, Jaelyn Trent, Kaylei Trent, Alayah Sigala, Jayden Ainsworth, Carson Ainsworth, Cameron Ainsworth, and Bryce Ainsworth. He also leaves behind his nephews, Rudy Moncivais (Lisa), and James Kent (Marsha), along with numerous extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
An interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Chamberlain Cemetery in Kingsville, Texas.
Robert’s life was defined by hard work, service, family, and a personality that could never be forgotten. Though his presence will be deeply missed, the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the memories he created will live on through the generations of family who loved him.
