Obituary

Ricardo Eric DeLeon, III, born May 19, 2005, in Madera, California, passed away on March 6, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the young age of 20. He was a dedicated Aviation Electrician for the United States Navy, proudly advancing to the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class. Ricardo’s commitment to his country reflected the same sense of responsibility and steadiness that those close to him admired throughout his life.

A 2023 graduate of H.M. King High School, Ricardo was known for his unique spirit and lighthearted moments, such as the memorable occasion when he and friends shaved their hair and eyebrows at school. His passion for life extended beyond his service; he was an avid gamer who enjoyed playing Xbox with his friends, treasured trips to the movies, listening to music, and maintaining his fitness at the gym. He also had a deep affection for his dogs, who were among his closest companions.

Ricardo carried himself with a quiet kindness and welcoming nature. Though initially shy, he had a wonderful sense of humor once he felt comfortable. He was always respectful, considerate, and compassionate, offering support to anyone in need without complaint. Known for his chill and carefree demeanor, he never worried about what others thought of him. Family and friends cherished his comforting presence and his ability to make others feel at ease.

He experienced many proud milestones, including winning first place in his division at a Grappling Tournament, learning to cook, and obtaining his driver’s license. These achievements were a testament to his perseverance and personal growth.

Ricardo’s family will fondly remember summers spent together in Madera, California, skating in New York under the tree, and especially the first—and last—fishing trip with his father, an experience they both treasured as a special first. These moments, filled with warmth and love, encapsulate the essence of his gentle spirit.

Ricardo Eric DeLeon, III will be remembered not only for his achievements and service but for the kindness and calm he brought to those around him. His legacy lives on in the memories shared by his loved ones and all who were fortunate to know him.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Enrique “Henry” Quijada; and paternal great-grandparents, Manuel and Rosa Montoya.

Among those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sarah Trevino; parents, Ricardo II. (Daniella) DeLeon and Janet DeLeon; siblings, Angela Franco, Kali DeLeon, and Daniel DeLeon; maternal grandmother, Cecilia Quijada; paternal grandparents, Rosa (Michael) Sullivan and Ricardo DeLeon, Sr.; aunts, Stephanie (Jose) Leal and Vanessa (Mario) Rodriguez; numerous cousins, extended family, friends, and his military family.

Services to honor Ricardo’s memory will be held at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd, Kingsville, TX 78363. The family will receive condolences from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Monday, March 16, 2026; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026; with full military honors to follow. Services will conclude that morning.

These services offer a time for family and friends to come together to celebrate the life of a young man who, though taken too soon, left a lasting impact through his generous heart and authentic character.
