Raymond Garcia III, a life-long resident of Kingsville, Texas passed unexpectedly on June 30, 2023, at the age of 43. His death has left an emptiness in our hearts.
Raymond was born in Kingsville on November 26, 1979. As a high school student, he was involved in the school band and was an accomplished oboist. He performed abroad with an orchestra which began his love for the classics. He was also involved in the Latin Club at his high school which began his passion for learning different languages. After high school he attended The University of Texas and studied Classical Languages. He eventually decided he wanted to pursue a career in education and graduated from Texas A&M-Kingsville with both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English. Raymond was an accomplished writer with multiple publications. He started working as an Adjunct Professor of English at Texas A&M-Kingsville. He then went back to his alma mater and began teaching English at H.M. King High School where he remained until his passing. Raymond wanted his students to succeed and have the opportunity to receive higher education as he did.
He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Guadalupe and Petra Saldana; paternal grandmother, Olivia Garcia; and his soul mate, Melissa Soliz.
Raymond is survived by his parents, Rachel Saldana Garcia and Raymond Garcia; grandfather, Reymundo Garcia; godmother/aunt, Anna Saldana; sisters, Bonnie (Kevin Buesing) and Monica (Marc Flores); his adored Goddaughter/ niece, Natalie Garcia; nieces, Olivia and Emma Buesing, Monique and Audrina Garza, Zoe and Riley Flores; nephew, Brandon Garcia; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and best friend Kristina Truelove.
The family will receive condolences from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. Raymond had a passion for donating to the homeless population. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to a charity of choice in his name.
