Raquel C. Silva, 84, was welcomed to heaven on July 26, 2025. Raquel, defined by her love for her family and close friends, was a great woman; she was loved by so many.

She was known, in part, for her boundless love, her unmatched cooking, and the laughs she effortlessly evoked from those around her.

She found joy in so many things. A few of those things were: writing, reading, walks outdoors, coffee and oatmeal, pan dulce, cracker barrel with her husband, talking on the phone, and her nightly telenovelas.

However, her most joyous of times were those spent with her family. Whether those spent with her parents and siblings during her childhood and young adulthood in Falfurrias, TX., or those spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, during her adulthood and later life in Kingsville, TX.

Though her entire family and close friends will miss her forever, they know Raquel, a devout catholic, is with God now.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Hortencia Castillo; in-laws, Manuel, Sr. and Aurora Buentello Silva; siblings, Juanita, Ramon, Rosendo, and her twin-brother, Rodolfo.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Humberto B. Silva; cherished sons, Humberto Jr. (Sheila) Silva, Danny (Sophia) Silva, Omar (Kristin) Silva, and Oscar (Hannah) Silva; sister, Maria Barrera; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. All of whom loved her and will go on loving her for the rest of this life and the next.

The family will receive condolences on August 3, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025, at St. Gertrude Catholic Church. A rite of committal and interment will follow at Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery, Corpus Christi, Tx.
