Ramon M. Vela

Ramon M. Vela, 78, of Kingsville, Texas passed away on June 2, 2025, in Corpus Christi, TX. He was born on September 11, 1946, in Chippewa, Michigan to Jose and Rosa Ilma Vela. He retired after 35 years with Comet School Supply. He was a simple man who loved the outdoors, but most of all being a musician. Hewas in several different bands that consisted of a mass variety of family and friends, with his instrument of choice being the accordion.

He was preceded in death by both parents Jose Vela and Rosa Ilma Mendez Vela and his younger sister Blanca Esparza.

Ramon is survived by five children; Raymond Vela of San Jose, CA, Raul Vela of Kingsville, TX, Veronica Acosta of Killeen, TX, Victoria (Rene) Reyna and Virginia (Ernest) Vela both of Palestine, TX; six siblings, Mary Barrientos, Omar Vela, Becky Arrollo, Rachel Zavala, Gloria Vela, and Nelda Villafuerte; and his special friend Gloria Zavala. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville, TX. Starting at 5pm, with a prayer service at 7pm, concluding at 9pm.
