Ramiro G. "La Pasa" Lerma, Sr.

Ramiro G. "La Pasa” Lerma, Sr. a true Kineño, left this world on January 8, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and loyalty. Born on June 7, 1958, in Sarita, Texas, Ramiro dedicated his life to the land and the noble profession of ranching.

Ramiro's path was paved early on when he began working for the prestigious King Ranch - Norias Division, a place that would become his second home for three unforgettable decades. Under the guidance of Ed Durham and later La Vocha Durham, Ramiro honed his skills as a dedicated ranch hand. His commitment to his craft was unwavering, and he embraced the traditions and values of being a Kineño with every fiber of his being.

It was during his time at the King Ranch - Norias Division that Ramiro crossed paths with Caporal Roberto "Beto" Silguero. Beto became more than just a mentor to Ramiro; he became a beloved figure who taught him the importance of working the land with respect and devotion. Ramiro incorporated these lessons into every task he undertook throughout his career and carried them with him throughout his life.

After retiring from the King Ranch in 2002, Ramiro joined the vaqueros at San Pedro - Kenedy Ranch, owned by the honorable East Family. He saw this opportunity as an extension of everything he held dear, working alongside fellow cowboys who shared his passion for ranching. Ramiro's loyalty to San Pedro Ranch knew no bounds, and he expressed infinite gratitude towards the East Family for providing him with meaningful employment during this chapter of his life.

In remembering Ramiro, it is impossible not to be struck by two defining qualities that defined him: his resilience as a hard worker and unwavering loyalty to those who earned his trust. Whether under the scorching Texas sun or amidst the challenges that a rancher's life presented, Ramiro never shied away from putting in the effort required to get the job done. Coworkers and friends alike remember him as a pillar of strength, always leading by example with his tireless work ethic.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ramiro will also be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering loyalty as a friend. He touched the lives of many through his genuine nature and willingness to lend a helping hand. Ramiro's presence brought comfort and solace to those around him, and he possessed an ability to make everyone feel valued and heard.

Ramiro G. "La Pasa" Lerma leaves behind cherished memories for all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will forever be remembered as an individual who dedicated his life to the land he loved so dearly.
