It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rachel Cardenas, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and educator. Rachel was born on August 9, 1951, in Kingsville, Texas, and she departed this world on February 11, 2024.
With a dedication that touched countless lives, Rachel devoted over 30 years to teaching with the Dallas Independent School District. She had a profound impact on her students, inspiring them to dream big and achieve their goals. Rachel cherished her role as an educator, always believing in the potential of every child she encountered.
A loving wife to her husband, Maximo Cardenas, and a nurturing mother to her children, Maria De Lourdes Rodriguez, and Noe Rodriguez Jr., Rachel poured her heart into her family. Her unwavering love and support will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Rachel shared a special bond with her siblings, Margarita McCreary, Alvaro “Sonny” (Silvia) Garza, Jose Garza, and David (Cindy) Garza, which provided a source of strength and joy throughout her life.
Rachel is survived by her husband, Maximo Cardenas; daughter, Maria De Lourdes Rodriguez; siblings, Margarita McCreary, Alvaro “Sonny” (Silvia) Garza, Jose Garza, and David (Cindy) Garza, as well as grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Alcardio Polanco and Rufina Polanco Garza, and her son, Noe Rodriguez Jr.
As we remember Rachel, we acknowledge the profound impact she had on many lives. She will forever be cherished in the hearts of her family and friends, and her legacy will live on through those she inspired.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 19, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, with a Rosary starting at 9:00 AM, followed by a committal service at Resthaven Cemetery in Kingsville, TX, to honor her life and contributions to her family and community. We invite all who knew and loved Rachel to join us in celebrating her extraordinary life and the love she so freely gave.
Rachel Cardenas will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
