Oscar Javier "Javi" Hinojosa

Oscar Javier “Javi” Hinojosa, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on May 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Known for his vibrant spirit and boundless warmth, Javi lived a life full of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Javi was a man of deep character — genuine, kind-hearted, and fiercely loyal. He had an easy smile, a generous heart, and a sense of humor that could light up any room. He found joy in the simple things: a good day out on Baffin Bay, a shared story around the fire, or the aroma of something sizzling on the grill.

A true outdoorsman at heart, Javi loved fishing and hunting. These passions weren’t just hobbies — they were opportunities to bond with those he loved most. Some of his most cherished moments were spent outdoors, creating lasting memories with his brother, sons, and grandson.

Javi also loved spending time at the baseball fields. He took pride in watching his boys grow up on the diamond, cheering them on from the stands and supporting them through every inning. That love for the game continued as he watched his grandson follow in their footsteps, continuing the family’s passion for baseball.

Javi was married to his high school sweetheart, Ann Marie Hinojosa, and their love stood as a beautiful example of commitment and devotion. For 26 years, they built a life full of laughter, strength, and shared dreams.

In his free time, Javi could most often be found surrounded by his family and friends. He was the life of every barbecue — grilling with pride, telling stories, sharing jokes, and making everyone feel welcome. He also enjoyed going shopping with his “buddy,” a simple pastime that brought him joy and quality time with someone he loved. His presence brought comfort and joy, and he had a rare gift for turning everyday moments into treasured memories.

Above all, Javi was a family man. His wife, children, and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He lived each day with their happiness in his heart and poured his love into everything he did for them. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and togetherness.

Javi is survived by his loving wife, Ann Marie Hinojosa; his sons, Omar Javier Hinojosa and wife Marina Hinojosa, Darien Hinojosa and girlfriend Paityn Pickens, and Christian Hinojosa; and his grandchildren, Eli Hinojosa, Amelia Hinojosa, and Isela Hinojosa. He is also survived by his brothers, Danny Hinojosa and wife Sofia Hinojosa, and Wito Hinojosa; his sister Erika Carrion; his stepmother, Teya Hinojosa; his sister Natalie Garcia and husband Michael Garcia; his brothers John Vargas, Martin “Chato” Mata III and wife Dolores Mata; and his sister April Cruz.

Javi was preceded in death by his father, Raul Hinojosa; his mother, Gracie Carrion Hinojosa; his stepfather, Rogelio Suarez; his maternal grandparents, Hilario Carrion and Estela Saenz Carrion; and his paternal grandparents, Raul G. Hinojosa and Elva Carrales Hinojosa.

The family will receive condolences from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Sunday, May 25, 2025, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary located in Kingsville, Texas.
