Onesimo Roberto Lerma passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the young age of 17.  He was born in Kingsville, TX on September 18, 2005, to Orlando and Patricia Lerma.  Onesimo attended Academy High School and was scheduled to graduate with the Class of 2024.  He enjoyed playing sports, especially SGA Football.  Family time was very important to him; movie nights, artwork, outdoor cooking with his dad, vacation trips to the beach, fishing at the pier, taking his truck for drives, hunting, camping, gardening, and roping.  Onesimo was a proud member of 4-H and raised chickens for KKJLS; he was always supporting his organization and his school.  He was a respectful and hard-working young man, with a strong faith in his catholic church; always helping and encouraging others. Onesimo always had time for his family and his girlfriend Rubi.  He will be deeply missed and remembered by those who knew and loved him.

Among those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Orlando and Patricia Lerma; sisters, Deyanira Alicia Lerma and Karileya Natalia Lerma; paternal grandparents, Ramiro Lerma and Maria Lerma; maternal grandparents, Victor Manuel De Leon, Sr. (Yolanda Ramirez) and Katherine P. De Leon (Ernesto Cadena, Sr.); great-grandmother, Idalia R. Cantu; uncles, Ramiro Lerma, Jr., John David Lerma (Priscilla), and Victor Manuel De Leon, Jr.; aunt, Felicia Ann Cadena; cousins, Alejandra Lerma, Robert Lerma, Joel Lerma, Mateo Lerma, and Victor “Tres” De Leon, III.; and many friends and extended family.

The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM.  A mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, Vattman, TX.  A Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Vattman Cemetery.
