Olivia Maldonado

Olivia Tamez Maldonado, age 79, peacefully passed away in her home on November 20, 2018 in Kingsville, Texas. She was born on July 6, 1939 to Salvador Cano Tamez and Candida Sanchez in Kingsville, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her both her parents, and one granddaughter, Candida Marina Jimenez.
Olivia is survived by her husband of 41 years, Johnny C. Maldonado Jr.; three daughters, Esther J. Jimenez, Angelita O. Maldonado, and Delilah Ann Maldonado; two sons, Domingo Jimenez Jr. and John Anthony Maldonado III; five sisters, Elida Gonzales, Dolores Abundo, Herlinda Cavazos, Noemi Vasquez, and Ofelia Carrillo; two brothers, Noe Tamez and Ruben Tamez; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
For 48 years she was the Food Services Director of Presbyterian Pan American School, and nourished thousands of students, faculty, staff, and friends with home cooked meals prepared by Olivia, fondly known as Oli. She practiced the presence of God every day in her kitchen, at the school and her home, and the food she served fed the spirit as well as the body.
Olivia was an active member of Gethsemane Presbyterian Church and she was the backbone of her congregation. She was a woman who served our Lord Jesus Christ, and whose love, guidance and patience brightened our lives. Her life represents her love of God and her ministry of mothering love to us all.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Gethsemane Presbyterian Church 1312 E. Kleberg Kingsville, Texas. Burial will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
