Ofilia G. Rodriguez, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, beloved grandmother, kind-hearted aunt and respected community member, passed away on June 11, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, service, and unwavering faith. Born on January 23, 1947, in Kingsville, Texas, Ofilia’s life was a testament of dedication, kindness, and an enduring commitment to helping others.
Ofilia was the beloved wife of Federico V. Rodriguez, with whom she shared a beautiful life rooted in love and faith. Together, they built a strong and nurturing family, raising their children with the same values that Ofilia held dear—faith, education, and service to others.
A proud and accomplished professional, Ofilia earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Psychotherapy from Texas A&I University. She held various jobs in the community and, in her final years, worked as a Librarian for Kingsville ISD. Her work touched countless lives, offering healing and hope to those in need. Her deep empathy and strength made her a pillar of support in her community.
Ofilia was also an active member of her church, Our Lady of Good Counsel, where she served faithfully as a Minister of the Eucharist, a member of the Ladies of the Altar, as well other church organizations. For many years, she served as a missionary in Mexico alongside her husband. Her faith was not just a personal guide but a driving force in her desire to uplift and serve others.
Family meant everything to Ofilia. She is survived by her husband, Federico, to whom she was married for over 40 years; her children: Emily J. Salazar (Oscar), Richard Aaron Palmatier (Marisela), Omar Rodriguez (Annette), Monica R. Vidal, Javier Rodriguez (Tammy), and Juan de Dios Rodriguez (Rita); her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her loving sisters, Cynthia Garza Vela and Stephanie Marie Jones (Ted); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who adored her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ray O. Garza and Alicia Blakely Garza, as well as her sisters Elizabeth Benitez, Catherine Louise Gonzalez, and Alice Garza. Ofilia’s vibrant spirit, compassionate heart, and enduring commitment to others will never be forgotten. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace and reunited with Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The family of Ofilia would like to thank her beloved friend and caretaker, Grace Olivarez, for her unwavering love and support over the years.
