Norman William McLeod Jr.
Known to nearly everyone simply as Bill, passed away on November 13, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on May 16, 1940, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Bill lived a life marked by laughter, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved.
Bill spent 30 years at Celanese, where he worked faithfully until retirement. Among his coworkers, he was rarely called "Bill", but "Nummy" was the nickname that stuck! A testament to the camaraderie he built and the fun he brought to every room. At home, he answered gladly to a whole collection of names: Honey B to his beloved wife, Harriet; Dad to his children; and PawPaw to the grandchildren who adored him.
Bill married the love of his life, Harriet Wines McLeod, September 14, 1959. Together they raised two children, Debra McLeod Strothman (John) and Kevin McLeod (Norma). Bill was a provider in every sense of the word. Not just through hard work, but through presence, guidance, and everyday acts of love.
Bill was a man with many hobbies. He was happiest staying busy and enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, photography, and history. He also loved to travel. After retirement, he and Harriet enjoyed traveling in their RV. They traveled all over the United States, visiting friends and family and seeing all the sites along the way. They were members of the Good Sam Camping Club and truly enjoyed all the people they met along the way. Bill dedicated many years of his life to the Boy Scouts. He served as Scout Master and shaped countless young lives. His leadership was matched only by his endearing goofiness, a combination that made him a friend to all who knew him.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Genevieve Forge McLeod and Norman W McLeod Sr.
Bill is survived by his wife, Harriet, his sister Sylvia of Oregon, his children, Debra and Kevin; his grandchildren, Kyler (Kara), Joel (Blanca), Amanda (Brad), and Kaela (Ryan) and three great-grandchildren, Jax, Cyra, and Elliana, each of whom brought him immense joy. He also leaves behind nieces Elizabeth and Stephanie and a nephew, Geoff, all of Oregon. He was loved deeply by all of them.
To know Bill was to know kindness, humor, and heart. His legacy lives on in every family gathering, every well-worn photograph, and in every story told with a smile. He will be missed dearly.
A Funeral Service to honor Norman "Bill" will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, with a visitation starting at 11:00 AM and funeral service to begin at 1:00 PM at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, followed by a graveside service at Chamberlain Cemetery.
