Nelda Whittington Curnutte

Nelda Louise Whittington Curnutte passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019 in Kingsville, Texas. She was 85 years old. She was an H.M. King High School graduate and a member of First Christian Church of Kingsville, Texas. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Nelda was a tremendous music fan, especially anything with a good toe-tappin’ beat. She loved to sing—whether it was at church or an Opry show or sharing beautiful harmonies in the living room with her family and she danced across miles and miles of dance floor with her husband, Bob. They enjoyed their retirement years traveling together with their 5th wheel and four other couples to blue grass festivals all over the United States.

Nelda was born on December 3, 1933, in Odem, Texas to Oren “O.A.” Sr. and Linnie Whittington, n e Brown. She married her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Curnutte on November 15, 1950 and the two spent 58 wonderful years together.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by her son, Steven (Paula) Curnutte and her daughter, Nancy Curnutte, both of Kingsville, Texas; her grandchildren, Will (Audra) Curnutte of Carrizo Springs, Texas, Erica Curnutte of Seattle, Washington, Robert (Heidi) Wilkinson, of Columbia, Tennessee, and Shannon (John) Hill of El Paso, Texas; her great-grandchildren Weston Ward Curnutte of Carrizo Springs, Texas, Chelsea , Whitney and Jack Hill of El Paso, Texas, and Connor Wilkinson of Columbia, Tennessee; and her two great-grandchildren, Caleb Torres and Stella Santana, both of El Paso, Texas; brothers O.A. “Bud” (Sarah) Whittington Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas and Wayne (Joy Beth) Whittington of Kingsville, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 from 6p.m.-7p.m. at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville, Texas. Funeral Service will be held at 2p.m. on November 13, 2019 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery in Bishop, Texas.
