Mauro Hernandez

Mauro Hernandez of Bishop, TX passed away on August 25th, 2022. Mauro was born on April 11th, 1972, in Kingsville, Texas to Lauriano “Moy” and Eva Hernandez.

In his youth he could be seen riding a bike alongside his sister. He enjoyed traveling with his parents on vacation to visit family. He loved watching cowboy movies and asking his brother Noe to make BBQ. Given the opportunity he could be mischievous around the house (haciendo travesuras). He enjoyed going to school and looked forward to the bus ride, seeing his friends, and learning from his amazing teachers. He was a 1994 graduate from H.M. King High School. During his academic years he participated in the Special Olympics and won in various sports. He was a parishioner of St. James Catholic Church in Bishop, Texas. He loved Spanish/Tejano music. He could often be seen with a radio and headphones. If he really liked the song, we would play it louder and tirar gritos. In his later years he was extremely helpful to his parents. They would ask him to lift heavy things and open things they could not because he was so strong. Mauro was very friendly and waved to people he did not even know.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents, and his brother, Lauro Hernandez.

He is survived by his parents Lauriano “Moy” and Eva Hernandez; brothers and sister, Ruben (Guadalupe) Hernandez of San Antonio, TX; Noe (Suzette) of San Antonio, TX; Rene (Jessica) of San Diego CA; Anita (Raul) Hernandez of Austin, TX; sister-in-law Lisa Hernandez of Kingsville, TX. and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive condolences, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church in Bishop TX. Burial to follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Bishop TX.
