Mary Cecelia McLaughlin Cusack, 86, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026, in Kingsville, Texas. Born on December 13, 1939, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Mary was the daughter of John Allen McLaughlin Sr. and Carrie Scarmardo McLaughlin.
Mary’s life was centered around the people she loved most: her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a cherished great-grandmother. Throughout her life, she created a home filled with love and lasting memories, leaving a special place in the hearts of those who knew her.
On June 14, 1958, Mary married the love of her life, Joseph Lynn Cusack Sr., in Corpus Christi, Texas. Together, they built a life and raised their family in Kingsville, sharing many years of marriage, family milestones, and treasured memories. Their years together reflected a lasting commitment to one another and to the family they lovingly raised.
Mary was a talented and accomplished woman who turned her passion for design into a lifelong career. She graduated from Texas A&I University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design. For 45 years, she dedicated herself to her profession, building a successful career through her creativity and vision. Mary established her own interior design business, allowing her to pursue what she loved while bringing warmth, and beauty to those around her.
While Mary took pride in her professional accomplishments, her family remained one of the greatest joys of her life. She treasured the generations that grew from the life she and Joseph built together. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were an important part of her legacy, and the love she shared with them will continue to live on through the memories they hold dear.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph Lynn Cusack Sr.; her children, Joseph Lynn Cusack Jr. and his wife, Shirley, and Kathryn Ann Cusack Krug and her fiancé, George Frye; and her grandchildren, Elizabeth Fike Garza and her husband, Alarick Garza, Benjamin Cusack and his wife, Annie, Jeffrey Cusack, Matthew Krug, Luke Cusack, Kathryn Krug, Alexander Krug, and Bethany Krug. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Madelynn Fulghum, Max Cusack, Jackson Cusack, Casey Cusack, and Carrie Garza.
Mary is further survived by her siblings, John Allen McLaughlin Jr. and his wife, Bettye, and Patricia McLaughlin Maloney and her husband, Allen, along with numerous extended family members and loved ones who will continue to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her son, John Thomas Cusack; her parents, John Allen McLaughlin Sr. and Carrie Scarmardo McLaughlin; her son-in-law, James Krug; her sister, Jean Frances McLaughlin Krnavek, and her husband, Norman; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Fike.
The family will receive condolences on Saturday, October 24, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Kingsville, Texas. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Services will conclude following the Mass.
Mary will be remembered for the life she built with her husband, the family she raised, and the love she shared across generations. Her creativity and dedication were reflected in her work, but her greatest legacy will always be the family and loved ones who carry her memory forward. Though her passing leaves a profound sadness in the hearts of those who loved her, the years they shared and the memories they created will remain a lasting source of comfort.
