Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Guyton, 86, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2026.

Mary was born in Miranda City, Texas to the parents of Jake L. Guyton, Sr. and Christine P. Guyton. The family moved several times during her child hood before settling down permanently in Kingsville, Texas. The family became a part of the community. The family became members St. Paul A.M.E. Church and she and her brothers and sisters attended Frederick Douglass School. She made many friends through out the community.

During her lifetime, Mary hade various types of jobs; but the one she truly loved was taking care of children. All the children, especially her nieces and nephews loved to stay at her house. She just had a way with the kids. Then Mary had her own child, a daughter she named Michelle Lynn Guyton to raise as a single parent. She loved her unconditionally. When her daughter graduated from High School and decided to move to Victoria, Texas; she moved with her, she stayed there several years before having to return to Kingsville dure to health issues.

Mary Elizabeth Guyton is preceded in death by both of her parents: Jake L. Guyton and Christine P. Guyton; by her (6) sisters; Ida Mae Huff-Collier; Geraldine Hatnot-Hanner; Willie Lee Harmon, Rececca Sparks-Hunter; Betty Sue Guyton and Gloria Jean Paige, and by her (4) Brothers: Jake L, Guyton, Jr.; Floyd C. Guyton; Archie Lee Guyton and Frank Samuel Guyton.

She is survived by her only daughter, Michelle Lynn Guyton of Victoria, Texas; her last sister, Linda K (Phillip) Wilson of Kingsville, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives an numerous friends.

To honor Mary's life, there will be a visitation at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary on September 5, 2026 starting at 8:00 am with a service to begin at 10:00 am. After the service, Mary will be laid to rest at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery, please join the family while we celebrate and honor the beautiful life of Mary.

The Guyton and Wilson family acknowledges with sincere appreciation all of the acts of Kindness, prayers, phone calls and warm hugs. Whatever you did to help comfort us and to show your support, we sincerely... THANK YOU. May God continue to bless each and everyone of you.
