Maria Enedelia Perez (known as Guera to many) of Bishop, Texas passed away peacefully on August 6, 2021, at the age of 76; surrounded by her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Guera was an employee at Bishop Primary cafeteria for over 20 years where she served the community’s children; and she retired in 2019. She was also a proud member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jose F. Perez; parents, Jesus and Julia Gonzalez; brother, Margarito Gonzalez; in-laws, Alfonso and Juanita Perez; sister-in-law, Porfiria “Pila” Hernandez; brothers-in-law, Alfonso “Poncho” Perez, Jr. and Rodolfo Trevino; and nephew, Hector Hernandez.
Among those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Norma Davila (Martin), Noel Rivas, Nora Castro (Cosme), and Nelda Pierce (Wayne); son, Jose Perez, Jr. (Stephanie); siblings, Laurencio Gonzalez (Jovita), Araceli Ovalle (Hector), Ernesto Gonzalez, Rachel Gonzalez (Everardo), Jesse Gonzalez (Debbie), Roy Gonzalez (Teresa), Rene Gonzalez (Sonia); sisters-in-law, Elida Gonzalez, Maria Trevino, and Ofelia Perez; brother-in-law, Eliseo Hernandez.
Guera leaves a legacy with her 13 grandchildren, Ashley, Megan, and Matthew Perales, Camryn and Sierra Rivas, Carli (Travis) Froehlich, Kendal, Arieanna, and Jonathan Castro, Austin, and Sabrina Munoz, Brianna and Trey Perez; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at St. James Catholic Church in Bishop, Texas. A Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery in Bishop, Texas.
