Maria Luisa Silguero Gerragauch, a cherished and steadfast presence in the community of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the age of 89. Her journey was marked by unwavering dedication—to her family, her faith, and the land she cherished so deeply.
Raised on the historic King Ranch, Maria Luisa's roots grew deep within its vast and abundant grounds, a home that nurtured her spirit and shaped her steadfast character. For two decades, she devoted herself to the King Ranch Main House, a testament to her loyalty and work ethic, becoming an integral thread in the fabric of an institution synonymous with Texas heritage.
A woman of remarkable strength and tenderness, Maria Luisa was a single mother who raised five children on her own, steadfastly guiding them with kindness and resolute faith. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured the joyful moments she spent with her siblings, always cherishing those bonds that nourished her spirit.
Known for her warm heart and enduring spirituality, Maria Luisa was a long-standing and proud member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her devout faith was a cornerstone of her character, inspiring all who encountered her gentle grace.
Her vibrant personality found expression in many joyful pursuits. She delighted in the playful tradition of loteria, the lively rhythm of dancing and singing, and the thrill of watching the Dallas Cowboys, passions that brought light and laughter into her days.
Maria Luisa Silguero Gerragauch’s life story is one of resilience, love, and unwavering faith. She leaves behind a legacy that will echo through generations—a testament to a life well-lived and a heart well-loved. The memory of her kindness and unwavering devotion will forever echo in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Emeterio C. Silguero, Sr. and Teresa Quintanilla Silguero; siblings, Rodolfo Silguero, Sr., Emeterio C. Silguero, Jr., Petra Escobedo, Jose Silguero, and Hipolito Silguero, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Consuelo Silguero, Betsy Silguero, and Esperanza Silguero; and brother-in-law, Cipriano Escobedo, Sr.
Among those left to cherish her memory are her children, Deborah (Leroy) Rios, David (Eva) Gerragauch, Paul (Gracie) Gerragauch, Ronald Gerragauch, and Daniel (Patricia) Gerragauch; sister, Lucinda M. Silguero; sister-in-law, Eliza Silguero; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
