Maria Andrea DeLaPaz

In loving memory of Maria Andrea DeLaPaz who, on May 3, 2024, joined God's kingdom.  Born on November 10,1933, Andrea left lasting impacts on those she graced with her witty character, unwavering energy, faith in God, artistic visions, and enthusiasm to learn new trades.

Maria Andrea explored different career paths as she lived. Having experience as a nurses aid, teachers aid, business owner, and custodial aid. She is a retiree from Texas A & M University after dedicating 20 years. Maria was never afraid to put sweat into whatever job she had, having always had a knack for buying and selling and organizational tasks.

While remaining a hard worker in her profession, those close to Maria knew all too well that her strongest passion came in the form of creativity. In her spare time Maria Andrea indulged in dancing, drawing, painting, and decorating her home. Leaving a legacy of fun and inspirational memories for her children to look back on and mirror as they grew up.

Beyond her hobbies, Maria Andrea dedicated her life to Rene, the third youngest, who had Down Syndrome. She took on the caretaker role with open arms. As part, she ensured his safety, happiness, and wellbeing; always taking the opportunity to spoil him with gifts and love.

Maria's faith in Jesus was strong, reciting beautiful prayers and bible verses on a daily basis for the family. Her spiritual devotion was felt by many, and many used her words to feel protected.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose Martin Barrera and Fidela Pena Barrera; Brother, Aniceto Barrera; and sons, Oscar Mario DeLaPaz and Rene Rey DeLaPaz.

Among those left to cherish her memory are her children, Doreen Betsy DeLaPaz-Reyes (Omar Rey Reyes) and Rolando Robert DeLaPaz (Audrey DeLaPaz); grandchildren, Karlene Cano (Ruben Cano III), Laurie Noriega (Armando Noriega), Dorimar Nai Reyes, Dioree Rae Reyes; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Grace Cano, Ruben Cano IV, and Armando Noriega III; and many extended family members.
