Marcelo Marcos Medina, age 96, of Kingsville, Texas, went to be with our Lord on October 10, 2022. He was born on August 14, 1926, in Laoag City, IIocos Norte, Philippines, son of Miguel Medina and Fortunata Marcos. He married Cosmedin Ibañez Peña on September 9, 1961, in Manila, Philippines.

Marcelo graduated from high school in 1949 (interrupted by World War II) and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1963. He served in the Armed Forces of the Philippines from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. He worked for the College of Forestry, University of the Philippines in Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines from 1955 to 1959, for the UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines in Manila from 1959 to 1964, and for the World Health Organization in Manila from 1964 to 1983. Marcelo and Cosmedin moved from Manila, Philippines to Texas in 2002, so they could live near their two daughters and grandchildren.

Marcelo was an avid reader and enjoyed biking, badminton, and playing chess with friends and family. He was devout in his Christian faith and served as a lector and lay minister in his parish church in the Philippines. As a father to his daughters, he was kind-hearted, a good provider, protector, dependable, and compassionate. He was always personally engaged in their lives, interests, hopes, and dreams. He was a great role-model, a gift-giver who always gave them unconditional love.

Surviving are his wife, Cosmedin Peña Medina of Kingsville, Texas; his daughter Angelina Cisneros (Rogelio) of Corpus Christi, Texas; his daughter Judith Clapp (Lee) of Kingsville, Texas; his grandchildren Michael Cisneros (Michelle), Gabriel Cisneros, and Victoria Cisneros of Corpus Christi, Texas, his great-granddaughter Emily Cisneros, and numerous nephews and nieces.

He is reunited in heaven with his parents, his sister Macaria Avila (Luis), sister Consuelo Medina (Sr. Loretto, OSB), brother Quirino Medina (Anacorita), sister Preciosa Ancheta (Amando), and brother Ernesto Medina (Maria).

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 14 at Turcotte Piper Mortuary in Kingsville, Texas. Visitation starts at 10:00 a.m. followed by Rosary at 11:30 a.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 14 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in Kingsville. His remains will be cremated and interred in the columbarium at the Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi, Texas at a later date.

Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas, 78363.
