Marcella Salazar

Marcella Delgado Salazar, 86, of Kingsville, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 24, 2023, after a short battle with breast cancer. She was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Nicholas Ely Delgado and Marie Henrietta Lee Delgado on February 11th, 1937. She grew up in San Antonio with her three brothers, Ben Roger, Manuel Joseph, and Roy Richard Arlen. She graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1955 and went on to work at Kelly AFB and at USAA.

She married the love of her life, Ramon Alfonso Salazar, on September 15, 1968, and moved to many locations throughout the country due to her husband’s Naval service, including Illinois, Florida, Tennessee, and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Marcella was a devoted wife and mother and is remembered for her wonderful cooking and her warm spirit. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her houseplants, watching British comedies and gardening shows, and doting on her husband and family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Ramon Alfonso; children, Alfonso Salazar II (wife Michele) of Schaumburg, IL, Cristina Marie Salazar of Kingsville, TX, and Deborah Lee Gimbel (husband John) of Schertz, TX; granddaughters Callista Reagan Gimbel and Emily Nicole Gimbel; her brother Ben Roger Delgado (husband of Rosanne, deceased) and sister-in-law Rosalinda Delgado (wife of Manuel, deceased), both of San Antonio, TX; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her dear brothers Manuel Joseph Delgado and Roy Richard Arlen Delgado, and her beloved sisters-in-law Rosanne Delgado and Bebytte Salazar.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 11:00AM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
